ITW Angleboard
"Your Single Source for Packaging and Transportation Protection Systems"
Angleboard
Angleboard is manufactured with multiple layers of paperboard, laminated with glue and formed into a rigid right angle, providing exceptional strength for load stability and packaging protection. Manufactured on a made-to-order basis, Angleboard is available in a variety of lengths, leg-sizes and thicknesses.
Angleboard Applications:
Unitizing:
Every time your product is handled, it's at risk of incurring
damage. Angleboard, used in conjunction with strapping or stretch
film, helps create a tight, secure shipping cube to contain your
load and prevent damage from shifting during shipping and
handling.
Angleboard
Benefits:
More product can be packaged per pallet, reducing handling and shipping costs
Load damage is minimized, improving customer satisfaction
Load unitization reduces pilferage
Stacking
Strength:
Angleboard vertically reinforces loads, enabling them to be
stacked higher for maximum utilization of your warehouse space.
Angleboard
Benefits:
- Loads can be stacked higher, maximizing warehouse space
- Reduces product damage from crushing in stacking situations
Strap
Protection:
Strapping, applied at maximum tension, improves load stability
but subjects the load to possible crushing at its corners.
Angleboard provides a buffer between the load and strapping to
permit high tension without damage.
Angleboard
Benefits:
- Facilitates higher applied tension for superior load stability
- Reduces indentation caused by strapping
Edge
Protection:
Packaging components must be tough enough to protect your
products from damage caused by material handling equipment and
the shipping environment. Angleboard is a sturdy package
component that helps absorb impacts at all load corners,
including the vertical corners which are more susceptible to
damage during transport; the top edges that can be crushed by
strapping and loads stacked on the top; and the bottom edges that
can get banged up by fork truck tines.
Angleboard Benefits:
- Reduces product damage incurred durring shipping, handling and storage
- Improves profits by reducing customer rejection rates
Ordering Angleboard:
Angleboard, referred to in terms of caliper, leg length and board length, is manufactured on a made-to-order basis. When ordering Angleboard edge protectors, you will need to specify:
- Leg length (A and B)
- Caliper (C)
- Board length (D)
Recommended Methods
The following are a few recommendations for Angleboard applications:
- Where Angleboard is used for vertical stacking strength, we recommend a 2.5" x 2.5" x .225 caliper Angleboard. This will be adequate for most packages and loads.
- Where lengths of Angleboard are used horizontally along the top edges of a package, we recommend a 2" x 3" or 2" x 4" Angleboard, with the 3" or 4" leg resting on the top of the package. Having the 3" or 4" leg resting on the top of the package lessens the chance that the Angleboard will fall off before it is secured with strapping or stretch-film.
- The above recommended applications are typical in the industry, however, we recommend discussing your applications with an ITW Angleboard distributor sales representative.
